Pretty humble beginnings for what would ultimately lead to the biggest MMORPG ever... :o Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look back at the very first Warcraft, a real time strategy game put out by Blizzard Entertainment in 1994. While Warcraft is a massive franchise today, its beginnings were pretty meagre, resulting in a game which was more or less a copy of Dune II with a handful of changes to the mechanics to support the fantasy setting. Also, there appears to be a later MacOS-only release as well, only differentiated on the box by having a very plain sticker indicating as such in the corner. Seems like there's a LOT more different releases of the game than may be apparent... :o * One of the things I skipped on mentioning is how if you continue poking a unit with your mouse cursor they have some extra dialogue. The reason I skipped it is because every unit for a particular faction has the exact same dialogue so this really doesn't amount to much.
