Originally Released: June 1st, 2013 ------------------------------------------ Given that this is one of the hardest platformers out there you'd think people would hate it, but this game's incredibly zany and offbeat humour, combined with fairly solid gameplay, made it liked by all... even people who couldn't get past that freakin' underwater section... :P Actually, TBH, this is one game where you probably want to stick with the Sega versions. This DOS port is still a fun game, but it's a poor port, if that makes any sense... you'll see what I mean. ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * If you wanna grab a copy of the DOS version of Earthworm Jim 1 and 2, follow this link: https://www.gog.com/game/earthworm_jim_1_2/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * Steam’s Earthworm Jim pack also includes Earthworm Jim 3D, however, buying all three games on GOG is cheaper than buying Steam’s pack. :P * I've been informed that the DOS version of Earthworm Jim is actually much easier to find in Europe than the Americas, so that's another thing to keep in mind if you're trying to hunt down physical copies! * After some more digging around, I believe Rainbow Arts was responsible for most of the porting process of the game from the Genesis/SNES versions to the PC version. Also, Interplay seems to be the current publisher for the recent re-releases. * The game actually trolls you a bit if you beat it on its practice difficulty mode: It just shows you a picture of a couple cows and some guy spouts off a bunch of mostly inaccurate facts about earthworms, followed by some credits stuff. * There seems to be a bit of confusion between the DOS and Windows versions of EWJ and EWJ2. It seems as though there was an early Windows 95 version which is actually a truer port of the Sega CD version of the first game, then a year later came a DOS release of the first two games together, but ported differently, with speed issues and missing features, yet still using the CD audio from the enhanced version. THIS is the version you get from GOG, as the origial Windows 95 port apparently runs into a lot of problems trying to run on modern Windows systems. (Par for the course for many early Win95 games.) * Favourite moment in the television cartoon: When Jim tries to rocket off into the sky during the title sequence and falls off, followed by Pete facepalming. ;D ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html
