Originally Released: August 11th, 2012 ------------------------------------------ This game kinda goes to show how ridiculous the whole publishing thing was not too many years ago. Absolutely terrible games like "Big Rigs Over the Road Racing" and "Extreme PaintBrawl" easily found their way onto store shelves and sold numerous copies before people clued into just how bad they were. Amulets & Armor on the other hand was a surprisingly decent game which never really got any attention due to a lack of proper publishing, selling fewer than 100 copies. I should point out too that not too many months after this video was made, the game was re-released as freeware and a Windows port has since followed with enhanced features! http://amuletsandarmor.com/ ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * Here's the link to the Unofficial Amulets & Armor Shrine: http://leileilol.mancubus.net/amulets * The game is actually quite a bit darker than in this video. Combined with the video compression I had to up the brightness and contrast so that everyone could actually see what was going on. After posting this video though, I found out from Leileilol that the game DOES indeed have gamma correction. All you gotta do is hit ALT+F10 anywhere in the game! :) * One thing I didn't talk about was the food/water system going on, as your character can starve or get thirsty. It's pretty inconsequential and doesn't factor into the game much at all, though keeping a handful of food items on hand doesn't hurt. Just don't stockpile food because there's no point. * Being used to Diablo and other such games, one thing that will bug many people who try to play this game is that if you have an item on your cursor, you can't immediately swap it with another item in your inventory, even though you can indeed do this with the equipment screen and your "use" slot at the bottom, which is pretty lame since it makes organizing your inventory more annoying, especially if you die and have to recollect everything you had. * Be very careful if you find Fluorescent Green Potions anywhere, because there's TWO variations: One that cures poison and one that CAUSES poison. There's actually a tiny visual difference between the two if you look closely at them but it's safer to just identify them both and not keep any poison potions on hand. * There's several other menus you can pull up mid-game including an ammunition screen to select what kind of ammo to fire from a crossbow, a finances screen so you can see how much money you're carrying, a notepad you can write stuff down in, and a communications screen so you can talk to other players in a multiplayer game. * v1.0 also had a number of other differences, such as entirely different equipment in the store and weaker enemies. Yeah, v1.2 is substantially more difficult than v1.0. You may want to check out both versions for curiosity sake though I still recommend v1.2 over v1.0. ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html
