Quick Announcement: Effective immediately, ADG will now be coming out once every two weeks on every other Saturday. Also, November is back in the mix so the only month I will be taking off completely from ADG will be December. Anyways, today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at two very similar games: Desert Strike and its sequel Jungle Strike, a pair of helicopter combat games which take place from an isometric perspective, both developed by Electronic Arts and published by Gremlin Interactive, the first in 1994, the second in 1995, though their console-based counterparts came much earlier. These games are fairly well made from a gameplay perspective, save for some minor annoyances, and are very challenging without being unfairly difficult. While they do primarily focus on arcade-style action, there are plenty of simulation aspects too to help tie it all together, such as having to balance fuel and ammo resources, rescue hostages, and complete various mission objectives on each map. ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * Something which came to light through the comments is that part of the reason for the unusual publishing shift to Gremlin Interactive is because EA originally only released these DOS ports in parts of Europe! However, I didn't realize this because the combo CD I have was distributed through Front Street Publishing out of California, so it has USA based addresses and phone numbers for support and all of that!
