Episode Originally Released: December 4th, 2010 ------------------------------------------ It's not often you run into a game that plays differently depending on if you had CGA, Tandy, or EGA hardware, but this is one of them. Actually, it plays differently in all of its various ports and iterations as well, even though the levels are pretty much the same across the entire spectrum. Nowadays, a game on one system plays pretty much the same on all other systems, but because the hardware specs were so vastly different between various consoles and computers of the 80s, making a game on multiple systems usually meant completely different source code for each. Oh yeah, the story for this game is ridiculous too. :P ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * Apologies for some of the sound distortion in the episode. I was already planning on getting a new mic when I got this episode out, though I ultimately settled for using the mic on the new video camera I bought because it was actually BETTER. (Nowadays, I use a mic that's worth as much on its own as said camera!) * One interesting piece of trivia is that the after name changes and poor handling by parent company Infogrames, the main crew of the French company ERE Informatique, which created Bubble Ghost, eventually left to form a new game company, Cryo Interactive Entertainment, which was responsible for the MegaRace series of games, the first of which I reviewed in for Episode 9 of ADG. * Another interesting piece of trivia is that just a couple years back in 2008, another similar bubble-moving game was made called "Soul Bubbles". It's an extremely hard-to-get game due to retailers not wanting to stock it (virtually impossible to find this game in Canada) but curiously it was ALSO made by a French company: Mekensleep * The original author of Bubble Ghost, Christophe Andreani, has contributed a number of neat tid-bits to the Bubble Ghost article on Wikipedia, including original conceptual sketches.
