In today's Ancient DOS Games filler video, Gemini's taking a look back at Air Fortress, an old NES game from 1987 made by HAL Laboratory before they were making first-party titles for Nintendo. This is a game which only had average or above-average reviews for its time and even now, yet is surprisingly brilliant when you dig deep into its mechanics... though the game does get exceptionally difficult the further in you get... ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * By sheer coincidence, John Riggs brought up this game in a positive light in one of his videos here on YouTube just a week prior! If you want to see the video in question follow this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0aVI-qztJQ * It's being pointed out that HAL was making first-party titles for Nintendo well before this game, and that is indeed true, but I was more-so referring to how this game came before that's what they started doing EXCLUSIVELY. Probably could've explained that a little better but I didn't want to get too far off track. :P * Turns out that even though this is technically an 1987 game, it actually didn't come out in North America until TWO YEARS LATER in 1989! That... goes a bit further towards explaining its middle-of-the-road review scores. :P ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html Kris' Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/kasick @Pixelmusement on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Pixelmusement ------------------------------------------ Chapters: 00:00 Intro and Story 01:43 Approach 02:52 Inside the Fortress 05:26 Destroy the Core! 06:54 Difficulty 10:11 Overall 13:25 Credits
