Ever wanted to travel the world by playing pinball? Well, now you can! ...sort of. Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Pinball World, a very atypical pinball program developed by Spidersoft and released by 21st Century Entertainment in 1995. This episode covers how to play the game, how to obtain it, and how to get it working best on modern systems using DOSBox.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* Here's a link to the page on GOG where you can buy Pinball World from in case you're curious about it:

* What ended up happening at the beginning of the video is my ball ended up getting stuck in a bizarre way, but when this happened, my controls started acting very strange. Most keys weren't working properly, but some were. I tried to save but I couldn't type in a name for the save file. Then I managed to get the game to pause, but the only key still working after pausing was the nudge key... yeah...
* A couple tables I didn't manage to get any footage of are the Hollywood and UK tables. Interestingly, the Hollywood table has the same font in use as the real Hollywood Heat pinball machine I used to have, which makes me wonder if that retro font and Hollywood are related in some way...
* One complaint I have about the game which I didn't bring up and which is unique to its method of play is that because all of the tables have been tied together as a sort of adventure, the high scores you make only apply to the entire game as a whole, whereas ANY other pinball program with multiple tables would track high scores per table.
* This is also probably one of the only pinball programs ever made to not have any extra balls. :P
* I've been told that the original game has CD-Audio tracks and the reason why the music keeps fading out when playing the world tables is that it's trying to switch to the appropriate CD-Audio track, failing, then falling back to the main music tune. This is both understandable and very odd given that most of the music in the game is module-based... This could make Pinball World one of the extremely few games to feature both kinds of music in one package. Well... provided you have the actual, physical CD, as this music is missing entirely from the GOG version. :P
