Normally I make a sarcastic comment right now, but it's kinda hard to do so when a program comes so close to being literally perfect! :o
Today on Ancient DOS Games Gemini's taking a look at Thinkin' Things Collection 1, an activity studio program with 5 (technically 6) mini-games based around critical thinking skills, originally released in 1993 by the Edmark Corporation.
This is actually a fairly basic program intended for kids aged 4 to 8, so naturally it's very simple and straightforward and not exactly something an adult is going to want to toy around with, but when you have experience coding educational software through a highly respected company you're pretty much forced to learn what you should and shouldn't do when it comes to this kind of stuff. Apart from the fact that this program doesn't directly teach anything, it follows all the right rules as far as educational software is concerned!

Additional Information and Corrections:
* You can learn more about my professional programming background from the "About" page on my website (a place surprisingly few viewers visit) but the short of it is that I worked for a small business called "Neufeld Learning Systems" for a little over two years between 2002 and 2004 coding high-end math software, primarily software intended to be used in grade K to 8 classrooms, though I did do a small amount of work on grade 9 to 12 software as well. I, along with everyone else given the small size of the business, reported directly to the CEO of the company who has an EXTENSIVE background in both teaching and computers, so naturally, all of us, not just myself, learned many of the intricate details of doing educational software RIGHT, since it was kinda necessary to do our jobs. Looking back, my decision to leave was probably not the smartest move I ever made, but I was still pretty young and overconfident in my ability to sell my own software. Geeze... can't believe that was nearly 13 years ago now... :o
* I'm told that there IS a CD release of this game out there which contains both the DOS and MacOS versions together, but apparently it's excessively rare as it didn't last long on the market before being replaced with the more common Windows + MacOS release.
