Not gonna find any Cacodemons here! ...I think... For today's ADG filler video, Gemini's taking a look at Sonic Robo Blast 2, an exceptionally well made fan game based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise by Sega, which has been in active development for over two decades up to this point, becoming bigger and better every step of the way! ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * If you want to try this game for yourself just head on over to the official website! https://www.srb2.org/ * So, in order to get the framerate over 35 FPS you want to grab the SRB2 Uncapped custom build at the following link: https://mb.srb2.org/addons/srb2-uncapped.3040/ - However, the current build is a version behind the actual game, at least as of my making this video, and while a build is available for the current version, no binaries are, meaning you have to be able to compile it to use it. If you don't want to go through that hassle and don't mind limiting your multiplayer potentials, grab the prior version of SRB2 simply by copying the appropriate download link for the game's installer into your browser's address bar and modify the version number to read as the previous version, as even though links to those downloads don't exist on the website anymore, the downloads themselves still do! * One curious thing I had to do to get the uncapped framerate mod producing a smooth 60 FPS properly while vertical syncing was to set its internal frame cap to 60 and restart the program, as for some curious reason, at least on my Windows 10 system, if the framerate so much as attempts to go faster than 60 with vertical sync going this mod's movement interpolation just completely messes up. I know, this advice runs contrary to how vsync and framecaps normally mix, but trust me, if you try the mod and the framerate still doesn't seem smooth, try this! :o * Also, fair warning that using the framerate uncapping custom-build may cause certain story sequences to spontaneously crash. I only had it crash a couple times and only early in the startup story sequence. * If the camera seems like it's not keeping the character I'm playing as on-screen properly it's because I may have overcompensated for the default camera position, as I find the default camera height is far too low to the ground. You can tweak this to your liking! * The comparison between 35 FPS and 60 FPS will only come across correctly if you're watching a 60 FPS stream of the video. Also keep in mind that because the video is 60 FPS, the 35 FPS represented here is how it would look on a 60 Hz display. If you have a display which can be set to a multiple of 35 FPS, such as 70 Hz, or have a display with adaptive sync, then the actual 35 FPS gameplay, not the 35 FPS gameplay in this video, will look MUCH smoother for you! :B * Getting the original Sonic Robo Blast working was... not pleasant. I had to source dubious DLL downloads to make it work right and had to wrestle with a bunch of DXWnd settings too so I do not recommend trying. ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html Kris' Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/kasick @Pixelmusement on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Pixelmusement
