Who needs dwarves and gnomes when you've got DUCKS?? ;D
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Magus, a dungeon crawl created and released by Ronny Wester sometime around 1993, though it's hard to nail down exactly when this game came out.
Although Ronny Wester is better known for Cyberdogs and C-Dogs, he definitely made some other stuff too, though Magus here is a bit of an odd one in that it kinda feels unfinished. There IS indeed a game here, but I get the impression there was more planned and it just never came to be.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* Here's a link to the page for Magus on the DOS Games website if you want to try it out for yourself:
https://www.dosgames.com/game/magus/
* Here's the link to the placed on GitHub to find the Magus Preservation stuff, including source code and TONS of details about the game. You may also want to grab the readme file from the 2nd Edition of the game here since the 3rd Edition didn't come with a readme:

* Listening through the sounds again I'm starting to wonder if Ronny Wester actually used Doom's sound effects, or rather instead, simply had access to the same sound effect libraries the people at Id used for Doom? Kinda hard to tell...
* There is one notable difference with the different character classes beyond starting attributes and that's movement points, as the movement points each character gets per turn is based on their class, though again, there are items you can acquire which can improve this.
* So... things have been extremely rough for me in real life the past while. In early March I had a shoulder injury which hasn't healed properly as it fell out of its socket with minimal provocation a week ago. On top of that, I've been suffering routine bouts of extreme stomach pain since mid-March which takes several days to go away every time it happens, with the last bout up to now happening right at the end of May. On top of even THAT, in early May the apartment building I live in decided to start doing massive renovations to numerous units despite pandemic-related stay-at-home orders, which results in tons of loud construction noise all morning and afternoon on weekdays, which combined with my sleep disorder has made it difficult to get any sleep, which was already difficult because of the shoulder injury interrupting my ability to sleep in my normal positions. Yeah... things got really dumb, really fast, from many angles, and it's really cutting into my ability to both make videos and do gamedev stuff in my spare time, plus I had to pretty much give up on livestreaming entirely for the time being. I will try to hold things together as best as I can but expect occasional video delays until all of this gets sorted out. :/
