(NOTE: I do have a number of positive things to say about this game, it just made the most sense to get the negative things out of the way first.)
Beep! ...Beep! ...Beep! ...Boop! DEAD.
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Brain Dead 13, a QTE FMV (Quick-Time Events with Full Motion Video) game developed and published by ReadySoft in 1995.
Although late to the scene for this style of gameplay which first appeared in Dragon's Lair in the 80s, this game is unique in that it was NEVER released to arcades and thus has a number of features and optimizations only possible by being a direct to consumer game on a CD. If not for a couple technical and design issues, this would actually be BETTER than Dragon's Lair! :o

Additional Information and Corrections:
* Digital Leisure requested that I link to their website when showcasing footage from their games so... here you go!
http://digitalleisure.com
* You may've noticed an absence of flashing objects from the Dragon's Lair footage. Turns out, for some curious reason, Digital Leisure omitted every instance of flashing objects in Dragon's Lair from every trailer they ever made, either omitting or replacing whole scenes or removing the specific flashing frames resulting in a temporary framerate drop. Best guess as to why this was done was to preserve the gameplay and not give people who watch the trailers an edge. :P
* Something I find amusing is that on the cover of the manual for the game, one of the numerous weapons Fritz is packing is a stick of TNT tied to a blue helium balloon. Why is this amusing? Because it's one of the few weapons shown in the official art which does NOT appear anywhere in the game! :o
