Originally Released: January 21st, 2012 ------------------------------------------ This was a game that came on the exact same disk as John Romero's "Dangerous Dave", and as you might expect, this game was made by John Carmack, both of whom eventually left Softdisk to form Id Software. Like the Dangerous Dave games, the original Catacomb games are now maintained and sold by Flat Rock Software. This one's always been freeware, though the pseudo-sequel "The Catacomb", the one that comes with a level editor, is not. :P ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * The Catacomb games are now available on GOG! For $6 you get literally ALL of them: Both 2D games, the original 3D game, and the trilogy! https://www.gog.com/game/catacombs_pack/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * Here's a quick link for anyone who wants to grab a free copy of this game specifically: http://www.classicdosgames.com/game/Catacomb.html * Yeah, I know the Goblins and Orgers are more red than purple. TBH, it's hard to tell when you're racing along in this game because all you see are purple walls contrasted by green floors the entire game. x_x; * One interesting thing I found out about while researching this game is that Adrian Carmack, who helped with a lot of graphics in Id Software's games, isn't actually related to John Carmack, despite sharing the same last name. :o ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html
