This episode of ADG is definitely NOT sponsored by a UK banking institution... Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Theme Park, a unique simulation game about building and running an amusement park, developed by Bullfrog Productions and published through Electronic Arts in 1994. While this game was critically acclaimed for its time, and understandably so, it has aged VERY poorly, especially when combined with its extreme emphasis on corporate-speak and business-centric ideals, coupled with a myriad of bugs and annoyances, some of which are game breaking. It's still playable for sure and if you know EXACTLY how to play it you won't run into any major issues... but for everyone else, until you have played this game for countless hours to understand every little nuance, number, expectation and intricacy, it is going to DESTROY you. ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * If you'd like to get Theme Park itself, here's a link to it on GOG: https://www.gog.com/en/game/theme_park/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * If you'd rather get Roller Coaster Tycoon, here's the GOG link for it: https://www.gog.com/en/game/rollercoaster_tycoon_deluxe/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * Or, if you'd prefer the slightly more expensive (but also better) Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, here's the GOG link for it: https://www.gog.com/en/game/rollercoaster_tycoon_2/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * In regards to the game using the term "The Little People", it primarily uses it when referencing the visitors as actual NPCs roaming the park, but still, there's no way this wasn't intentional and in reference to big-business thinking as I even asked a few family and friends while making this video, "What would you call a person who paid money to go inside an amusement park?"... and the two main answers I got were "visitor" and "patron". :P * I accidentally referred to EA's "CD-ROM Classics" as "EA Classics". Very minor mistake but could be confusing if you go searching for boxed copies and are unfamiliar with EA's approach to re-releases. ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: http://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: http://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: http://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html Kris' Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/kasick @Pixelmusement on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Pixelmusement
