Oh no, not more potion making! ...wait... you mean to tell me it's actually DECENT this time?! :O
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at The Legend of Kyrandia Book Two: The Hand of Fate, an inventory-based adventure again developed by Westwood Studios and published through Virgin Interactive in 1993.
Unlike this game's predecessor which felt misguided and frustrating, despite being extremely well done artistically, this game keeps the artistry flowing while at the same time VASTLY improving on the gameplay, while still being true to the original formula. This game epitomizes exactly how you should make a sequel!

Additional Information and Corrections:
* If you wish to purchase the game from GOG, follow this link:

* You don't ACTUALLY have to do the long and tedious puzzle on the volcanic island. In fact, you can entirely skip it, but you'll miss plenty of dialogue if you do.
* Curiously, you can also abuse the game's walking dead prevention mechanics to bypass certain things. For instance, there's a part later in the game where you're supposed to try and scam an octopus out of his own game to get some gold coins while at the same time you need to get a gold tooth from a pirate and smash that into a coin. You can skip the octopus entirely and just do the pirate thing three times, provided you smash his gold tooth into a coin each time because you can't get another until you do that.
