Today on Ancient DOS Games Gemini's taking a look at Lords of the Realm, a turn-based strategy game developed and published by Impressions Games in 1994.
This game takes after old number-management strategy games from many years prior, where the goal was to just keep your numbers in check given various formulas and strategies, but adds numerous layers of complexity on top of this, becoming something that's kind of a mix between unit-based gameplay and number-management gameplay. It's actually not that complicated, but there's a lot of factors to bear in mind to make your numbers work their best and not everything you do has an instantaneous effect, sometimes taking many turns for the effects to become apparent.

* Oh yeah, there's a whole diplomacy system in place too so you can form alliances, declare war, etc., although I barely touched it which is why I didn't really say anything about it.
