Today's filler video is all about VR, Virtual Reality, in the modern day, coming from a person who has been enjoying VR on a regular basis for nearly six years straight. This video goes over how to decide if VR is something you actually want to partake in or not, how to get into it, what to expect when you do, pitfalls to watch out for in terms of VR games and experiences which can sour one's enjoyment, and a whole host of game recommendations across various genres, many of which are NOT the popular games! ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * So, I looked into whether the movement sensations you get from VR are actually "Vertigo" or simply "Motion Sickness". Unfortunately, there's no clear-cut answer either way. Most people argue it's simply "Motion Sickness" because traditionally, "Vertigo" requires there to be a physical defect or problem of some sort in your head, but the argument the other way is that "Vertigo" comes from perceived motion where there is none whereas "Motion Sickness" is traditionally where you're unable to compensate for actual motion appropriately. As such, please don't argue about it in the comments; you're not doing anyone any favours. :P * Until You Fall does actually have two-handed weapons and the ability to equip things which prevent the use of a second weapon, but you are REALLY doing yourself a disservice in that game in terms of blocking attacks without having two separate weapons, given how the blocking mechanics work. I mean... clearly it's POSSIBLE, but you've gotta have lightning-fast reaction time to block everything! :o * Most VR games show a passthrough of the footage prior to being warped appropriately for the headset lenses, but a few instead show the raw signal passed to the lenses after the fact, which is why No Man's Sky looks like that and why I didn't show much footage of it. :P * One last thing to mention, specifically if you're playing games using the SteamVR interface, is a tool called OVR Advanced Settings, which basically lets you adjust your experience to an EXTREME degree. For instance, one thing it can let you do is manually edit your tracking position so you can sit down, stand up, or even lie down while playing games which normally wouldn't let you do this. The only trick is that it only works in conjunction with games running through SteamVR but some games require this so it's still worth looking into once you're ready to start tweaking your VR experience to be more suited to what you need: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1009850/OVR_Advanced_Settings/ ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: https://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: https://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: https://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html Kris' Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/kasick @ pixelmusement.com on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/pixelmusement.com ------------------------------------------ Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 01:49 Part 1 - Getting Into VR 08:28 Part 2 - Enjoying VR 16:31 (p2) Project AB 17:58 Part 3 - Game Recommendations 19:07 (p3) The Lab 20:40 (p3) Pierhead Arcade 21:54 (p3) Fujii 22:28 (p3) Until You Fall 24:20 (p3) Compound 25:20 (p3) Cubism 26:15 (p3) Color Space 27:07 (p3) Ancient Dungeon VR 28:10 (p3) No Man's Sky 29:29 (p3) Walkabout Mini Golf 31:17 (p3) Master Bladesmith 36:12 (p3) VRChat 39:19 Conclusions 42:48 Credits
