Try not to mind the fact that I sound like I'm dying, I was still recovering from a cold when I voiced this one... ^_^; Anywhoo, today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Whiplash, also known as Fatal Racing, a 1996 racing game developed by Gremlin Interactive and published by Interplay, completely steeped in mid-90s aesthetics. On the surface, this game looks super-generic, but dig a little deeper and you discover it's actually somewhat different from typical racing games in subtle, often unseen ways. It otherwise plays perfectly fine... provided you have an analog joystick/gamepad. :P ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * After doing some research on the NEXT game I'm covering, I realized the hint should've read "paid sequel" not "shareware sequel", as I can't find evidence of the game having a shareware release... Whoops. :P * There's actually more tracks to unlock than I realized, but the manual and box don't allude to any of it and the difficulty was so high I wasn't able to discover any of it myself. :o * One feature I neglected to mention is that you get extra points in the Championship mode for causing fatalities to the other racers. However, getting this to happen without scaling up the damage can be a bit tricky as I never scored a single fatality the entire time I was playing. :P * I accidentally forgot to talk about the replay system in here as it's actually really extensive.
