Not your everyday platformer for sure... :o
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at the original Prince of Persia, a cinematic platformer conceived by Jordan Mechner and publisher through Brøderbund in 1989, originally on Apple II computers, with the DOS port following the next year in 1990 along with MANY more ports following.
Amazingly, despite playing the second game first, this one is surprisingly similar in many ways, yet the two games manage to be mostly equivalent with each other, with the first game having stronger overall gameplay and the second game having a stronger presentation and aesthetics.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* For those interested, here's a link to the GitHub page where you can find the source code for the original Apple II release of the game:
https://github.com/jmechner/Prince-of-Persia-Apple-II
* I've been informed that the source code above ALSO includes the game assets, so you can indeed build a PLAYABLE copy of the game from the source! ...for the Apple II anyways. :P
