Well... there's a LOT of stone kept here, I'll give it that! :P Today for Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look back at Stonekeep, a unique and streamlined 3D dungeon crawl put out by Interplay in late 1995, which was meant to become its own franchise but unfortunately ran headfirst into Interplay's looming troubles and thus the sequels it was intended to have never really materialized. ------------------------------------------ Additional Information and Corrections: * If you'd like to grab a copy of the game from GOG, follow this link: https://www.gog.com/en/game/stonekeep/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4 * Or, if you'd prefer to grab it from Steam, follow this link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/613240/Stonekeep/ * BTW: Here's the exact episode that DBZ Abridged audio clip came from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fAQtmY2NUM * During the review you may have noticed moments where I'm seeming to wave my mouse cursor back and forth. Because of how tiny objects can be in the world, and because they can be obscured by other obstacles in the world, often times the best way to find things is to just scan the cursor around and see if it lights up with an icon to indicate something can be picked up. :P * The reason I spin a lot in melee combat is because it trips up the enemies when you're fighting more than one at a time and causes them to waste time repositioning, whereas your party doesn't have this disadvantage. * One important point about combat I forgot to mention in the video is that if an actively hostile enemy is directly to your sides or behind you, your party will constantly take hits at random, often much faster than if you were facing the enemies head-on. This can make running away a dangerous/impossible prospect, especially since doors don't stay open, thus it's good to save before approaching new sections. * There are TWENTY save slots. :o ------------------------------------------ Pixelmusement Website: https://www.pixelships.com ADG on Pixelmusement: https://www.pixelships.com/adg Alphabetical Index of ADG Episodes: https://www.pixelships.com/adg/index2.html Kris' Patreon Page: https://www.patreon.com/kasick @ pixelmusement.com on Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/pixelmusement.com ------------------------------------------ Chapters: 00:00 Title and Intro 02:39 Game Stats 04:40 Story 06:39 Gameplay 17:05 Overall 18:04 DOSBox Configuration 19:02 Credits
