Given the lack of wind, this game is surprisingly not as "mean" as one might expect. :P
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at Mean 18, a golf sim developed by Microsmiths and published by Accolade in 1986, though multiple re-releases followed, primarily to add more graphics mode supports.
The biggest claim to fame for this game is its included editor for making courses, right down to each individual pixel making up the course layout! Mind you, the game has some quirks compared to typical golf games, including its unusual means of rendering its 3D perspective which resulted in a sort of curved perspective.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* Since this is the first game of the season to lack a proper means of obtaining nowadays, I just want to remind everyone that while I don't personally have an issue with the less-than-legitimate sites out there which offer up old software, it would be irresponsible of me to advocate them as a means of obtaining software one doesn't have a right to play. However, due to the way games are licensed for use, I see absolutely nothing wrong with downloading a game (or patches to a game) you have a legit copy of so that you can actually play it. :B
* I might be wrong about the lie of the ball not being a factor in how the clubs react, but admittedly, it was hard to tell because I don't actually know what happens in real life when you use particular clubs in situations where you normally wouldn't, like woods in the sand traps.
